Topgolf announces new six-week golf league starting this October

Topgolf and Spark Golf have joined forces to launch a new six-week 9-hole league designed to give golfers a more social way to play through the autumn.

The new league will begin on Tuesday 6 October, with rounds taking place every Tuesday until 10 November at 5:30 p.m. across Topgolf venues in the United States

The format will combine Spark Golf's social league concept with Topgolf's Toptracer technology, allowing players to compete over virtual 9-hole rounds while keeping track of their performance in real time.

Rather than following the traditional golf league format, Spark Golf's leagues are built around shorter rounds, relaxed competition and the opportunity to meet other golfers. 

The partnership with Topgolf will bring that approach to the company's entertainment venues, potentially making it easier for players to fit competitive golf into a busy schedule.

Each round costs $44 per player and includes a 9-hole round played on Toptracer's virtual courses. 

Players can register for the league and manage their rounds through the Spark Golf app, which also provides access to scoring, handicaps and statistics.

Topgolf CEO David McKillips said the partnership reflects the company's focus on making golf more accessible to a wider range of players.

“Partnering with Spark Golf is a natural fit with the Topgolf ethos of making golf fun, accessible and welcoming for players of all ages and skill levels,” McKillips said.

Spark Golf co-founder Charlie Klaus added that the partnership would allow the company's community to continue playing and competing during the autumn months.

The launch adds another league-style option to Topgolf's existing offering, with players able to combine the social atmosphere of the venues with a structured six-week competition.

Spark Golf was launched in 2018 and says its leagues are now hosted at more than 2,000 courses, with a community of more than 300,000 golfers.
