'Joshua is the Tiger Woods of boxing'

Anthony Joshua is being compared to Tiger Woods by promoter Barry Hearn after the Englishman’s thrilling heavyweight triumph over Wladimir Klitschko.

Hearn, whose son Eddie promotes 27-year-old Joshua, says the boxer is the “finest role model he has ever seen”.

"All sports need flag-bearers," said Hearn. "The Joshua effect is very similar to the Tiger Woods effect, where people who are not so interested suddenly become interested, where young people become aspirational to follow in someone's footsteps.”

Joshua unified the heavyweight division after stopping Klitschko in the 11th round at Wembley on Saturday.
