Watch: long drivers launch shots down runway and shatter records
As you can imagine, they achieved some staggering distances.
Long Drive European Tour Champion Matt Nicolle fired a 657.44-yard drive down RAF Honington’s runway as a selection of American Golf’s longest hitters attempted to smash distance records.
While Nicolle’s drive was shorter than other unofficial records, his was with conforming equipment. American Golf are hoping to get the record logged with the Guinness Book of Records.

On Course Foundation beneficiary and Gecko Tour player Mike Browne also launched a 564.65-yard drive.
Browne had a leg amputated in 2013, and this could be a record for a single leg amputee.
American Golf UK Long Drive Champion Ilona Stubley launched a 460.94-yard drive.
