Tiger Woods reveals his first two PGA Tour events of 2020

Tiger Woods has confirmed he will make his first PGA Tour start of 2020 at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines from January 23 to 26.

Woods, 44, will bid to land a record 83rd PGA Tour title at the scene of his famous 2008 US Open triumph where he defeated Rocco Mediate in an 18-hole playoff while practically playing on one leg.

The 15-time major champion is currently tied on 82 PGA Tour wins alongside Sam Snead - set in 1965 - after winning the inaugural ZOZO Championhip in Japan in October.

The Farmers Insurance Open will be played at Torrey Pines, where Woods has eight wins, including the aforementioned 2008 US Open.

Woods will be joined by a strong field including Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Phil Mickelson, Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele.

Since equalling Snead's record, Woods has competed in two unofficial events in December.

He finished fourth in the 18-man Hero World Challenge before posting a 3-0 record as a playing captain for the victorious US side at the Presidents Cup.

Woods has also confirmed he will play in the Genesis Open at the Riviera Country Club outside of Los Angeles, three weeks later from February 13 to 16.

This tournament was where Woods made his PGA Tour debut in 1992.

In honour of that, ticket prices will start at $19.92.

Besides Torrey Pines, it is Woods's only other commitment of the season so far.

Woods has recently made it clear he will have a limited schedule of tournaments in a bid to best prepare for the majors and WGCs as he looks to maintain his levels of health on Tour.
