Black was old for drivers a few years ago. Not any more. Even Cobra, with more colours than the rainbow, is resorting back there. The white edged half moon around the side works perfectly well for alignment, particularly with the Cobra logo in the front middle. Nicely shaped head, too, as always when it comes to Cobra drivers.

Feel is probably the standout feature of this driver. It feels great in the hands at address and also through impact. Standard Graffaloy shaft felt easy to control and I really appreciated the slightly heavier head. I experienced a crisp, compressed smack at impact, no matter the strike, with a little bit of softness to it.

On average, one of the most accurate drivers I've tested this year. It just flies incredibly high, possibly because it does look slightly open at address. It's still a long driver, just not quite as long as some of the others.

Verdict

If you want to find more fairways and crave added feel over your drives, look no further than the BiO CELL driver for 2014.

It's a good all-around performer and very good value for money at less than £250. You might gain a few more yards elsewhere, though.
