TR47

The TR47 is manufactured from 15-3-3-3 titanium - regarded as one of the finest Beta Titanium’s available - and delivers unrivalled power and stunning looks. Features a custom UST Mamiya shaft and grip designed specifically for the TR47 to minimise torque, optimise the ball flight and harness the powerful head design.

In terms of appearance, I think the head and shaft combination of black and blue works particularly well and the JL logo provides pefect alignment.

The deep titanium face fuels confidence when standing over the ball but the clubhead just feels a little too closed at address.

The Tour-proven V2 shaft feels superb in the hands but I'm not keen on the standard rubber UST grip, which just feels too thin and more likened to a putter grip.

Saying that, this driver delivers a crisp, compressed crack when striking one out the centre.

I was also a little surprised by the distance I was achieving given it was trumping many of the more renowned drivers that I've tested so far this season.

Although I struggled with my opening few drives with the TR47, hitting well offline, I eventually managed to take advantage of the new 15-3-3-3 beta titanium face and crank drives in the vicinity of 260 yards.

You could have served drinks on my ball flight, however, and hence there was not much run out when touching down.

Verdict

The TR47 is not the most forgiving game improvement driver out there but it’s long and feels great in the hands.

Trajectory is a little higher than ideal, but all in all, the TR47 offers decent value of money.
