Wedges that can perform in any sort of conditions, whether it's from the short grass, the long grass or the sand, are perfect for your golf bag and this is exactly what TaylorMade has aimed for with the TaylorMade Hi-Toe 3 wedge range.

As Alex shows in our video review below, the shot choices are endless with this release from TaylorMade. From flop shots to chip-and-runs, you can get creative from the fairway and around the greens, and we consider them some of the best golf wedges in the game right now.

At £139.00, these wedges could definitely represent better value than some of their market rivals from the likes of PING and Callaway.

GolfMagic Equipment Editor Alex Lodge took the Hi-Toe 3 wedges in 58 degree, 54 degree and 50 degree models out on the course to put them through their paces.

TaylorMade Hi-Toe 3 wedge - Key Features

TaylorMade has made some big improvements from the Hi-Toe 2 wedges. The company has focused on versatility and one of the main features to ensure this is the four-way cambered sole.

No matter where you are on the golf course, in the rough or the bunker, the four-way cambered sole guarantees improved turf interaction. You will also be able to clip your ball off tight lies, which suits better players.

The Hi-Toe 3 design produces a higher centre of gravity that is engineered for a lower launch and more spin, delivering even better control and spin properties on full swings.

Trailing edge relief adds to the versatility by allowing golfers to easily and comfortably open the face to manipulate loft, trajectory and spin on short shots.

Milled ribs positioned between the full grooves add texture to the face and are designed for increased spin and performance on partial shots around the green.

Because of their versatility and forgiveness, they could be best suited to high handicappers looking for consistency in their ball-striking. However, the low flight and high spin qualities would benefit low handicappers and professionals too.

TaylorMade Hi-Toe 3 wedge - Looks and Feel

The gold and rusty look of the TaylorMade Hi-Toe 3 wedges is very alluring. This design gives them a vintage feel and they're certainly eye-catching.

Alex enjoyed the spinny feel from the centre of the clubface when he hit full shots from the middle of the fairway. As soon as you strike the ball, you can feel the benefits of the milled ribs.

TaylorMade Hi-Toe 3 wedge - Performance and Forgiveness

When practicing with the new wedges, Alex used the 58 degree, 54 degree and the 50 degree iterations. He found that the 50 degree wedge was far more forgiving than previous TaylorMade wedges.

Alex complemented the micro-rib grooves ingrained in the face. This feature allowed a sweeter connection and Alex also achieved a good spin rate from the middle of the fairway.

With a lower launch and increased spin, the TaylorMade Hi-Toe 3 wedges deliver exactly what you expect from a new release and these represent the key differences from the Hi-Toe 2 wedges.

When Alex hit shots from a closer range to the pin, he showed the versatility of the Hi-Toe 3 wedge set by using all three wedges and playing a number of high and low shots. This release from TaylorMade certainly encourages shot-making and encourages creativity.

He found that the Hi-Toe feature of the clubhead was very beneficial for shots hit out of the rough and the bunker. The design certainly covers all of your bases.

Should you buy the TaylorMade Hi-Toe 3 wedge?

TaylorMade is offering golfers a range of degree options in these wedges and they all have the forgiving, versatile features which have been the main focus of this release.

The full face of micro-rib grooves helps you to feel the spin as soon as your club hits the ball. This is not an unprecedented design feature, but it is definitely an effective one.

Alex suggests that amateur golfers shouldn't necessarily buy a full set of Hi-Toe 3 wedges as they could potentially be part of a combo set. This will increase your short game options and instil your confidence around the greens.

We are massively impressed with the Hi-Toe 3 range. The technological design features will help with the consistency of your ball striking and your dispersion in and around the pin.
