Odyssey Versa #7

The new Odyssey Versa putter line accentuates the face angle at address, and highlights the face angle throughout the stroke. Versa #7 has a modified mallet with weighted alignment wings, a double-bend shaft and full-shaft offset.

On first inspection, placing putter head behind ball, I was a big fan of the black and white contrast as that helped accentuate the face at address. It’s a pretty sexy, sleek design in my book. The double bend shaft is by no means off-putting.

The classic Odyssey white face looks great, as expected, and the ball shaped hole at the back - a familiar trait in Odyssey putters - helps align putts with ease.

In terms of feel, the new white hot insert sounds and feels a little firmer than the original but I enjoyed a very consistent sound and performance across the face. This is putter is also very nicely weighted. 

Performance wise, this mallet putter worked well for me - quite simply because of its alignment aid. While using contrasting colours has been around for a while, the Versa utilises one of the best designs I've seen for quite some time as two lines move front to back in the same direction as the stroke. Genius stuff. Taking the putter back on plane has never been so easy. 

Verdict

I was draining putts with regularity from inside of six-feet and misses weren’t too far from going under from outside of 20-feet. I think this mallet will help you make more birdies and par saves. Decent value for money, too.
