DP World Tour Championship: Check out the final leaderboard of the $10m season finale in Dubai as Matthew Fitzpatrick defeated Rory McIlroy in a play-off on the Earth Course.
Matthew Fitzpatrick won the DP World Tour Championship for the third time in his career.
The 31-year-old Englishman, who won the 2022 US Open, finished on a 72-hole total of 18-under par alongside Masters champion and Ryder Cup teammate Rory McIlroy.
It was Fitzpatrick who prevailed in a sudden-death contest though, making a par on the first extra hole as McIlroy could only manage a bogey.
The consolation for McIlroy, 36, was that he won a fourth straight Race to Dubai title and seventh overall.
A tearful McIlroy paid tribute to Seve Ballesteros after he leapfrogged the late, great Spaniard with order of merit titles.
He also made it clear he is desperate to become Europe's best ever golfer by matching and ultimately surpassing Colin Montgomerie in the season-long points race.
"I didn't get this far in my dreams, so it's very cool," said McIlroy, who also revealed that he spoke to Ballesteros' wife, Carmen, earlier in the week.
"It seems within touching distance now," he added about catching Montgomerie.
"I'd love to be the winningest European in terms of order of merits and season-long races.
"You know, I've probably got a few more good years left in me, and hopefully I can catch him and surpass him."
Elsewhere, there were top-10 finishes for Ludvig Aberg, Tommy Fleetwood, Rasmus Hojgaard and Robert MacIntyre.
Justin Rose, Shane Lowry and Tyrrell Hatton also finished comfortably inside the top-20.
