Norman beats Woods and Nicklaus to title as LIV Golf celebrates multiple awards

LIV Golf celebrated a hat-trick of accolades at the 2023 World Golf Awards with the Saudi-bankrolled circuit winning 'Best Golf Innovation' and 'Best Golf Event' along with its CEO Greg Norman earning the title of 'Golf Course Designer of the Year'.

The World Golf Awards, which on its website states "the leading authority for recognising and rewarding excellence in golf tourism", took place in Abu Dhabi on October 23.

A total of 384 awards were dished out at its 10th annual gala ceremony in UAE.

LIV Golf scoops multiple awards

Just 24 hours after the conclusion of its second season, which saw Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC crowned as team champions in Miami, LIV Golf not only won 'Best Golf Innovation' but also 'Best Golf Event' courtesy of LIV Golf Adelaide

The Australian event drew more than 90,000 fans to its three-day event in April 2023, marking the most attended LIV Golf League event since its inauguration in June 2022.

It also marked a rare celebratory week for the relegated Chase Koepka, who made a stunning hole-in-one in crazy scenes.

Talor Gooch went on to win the tournament en route to landing three titles in the space of five events. The American then went and pipped Cameron Smith to the LIV Golf Individual Championship earlier this month.

Greg Norman beats Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus to Course Designer of Year

Norman fended off the likes of Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus to be crowned 'Golf Course Designer of the Year'.

Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) is recognized as one of the premier signature golf course design firms in the world, featuring over 100 courses opened across 34 countries and six continents.

LIV Golf CEO Norman said of his award:

"It is a testament to what Greg Norman Course Design has done to the commitment of developing the game of golf around the world for the last 30+ plus years. It's been an exceptional year for us without doubt in countries such as Oman, Australia, Vietnam, USA, Spain, Mexico and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
