LPGA star Brooke Henderson shares heartwarming update after impressive run of form

Brooke Henderson has revealed she is engaged to minor league baseball pitcher Ricky Castro.

Castro, 26, announced the news on Instagram, writing: "God is so good for giving us each other!", with Henderson accepting his proposal just a week after finishing runner-up at the Amundi Evian Championship in France.

The timing comes as Henderson, 28, is enjoying arguably her best spell of golf this season. 

The two-time major champion has recorded two top-three finishes in majors in the space of three weeks, tying for third at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship before narrowly missing out on victory at the Evian Championship. 

Henderson's latest performance in France was especially eye-catching as she produced three eagles during the final round, including a spectacular hole-in-one, before eventually finishing second after a losing out in a playoff to South Korea's Haeran Ryu, who collected her second straight major title. 

The Canadian has steadily built momentum throughout 2026 after opening the year with a third-place finish at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. 

Although she endured a mixed run through the spring, including two missed cuts, Henderson has rediscovered her best form just as the major season reaches its climax.

Her resurgence has also been reflected financially, with top-three finishes at the season-opening event, the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and the Amundi Evian Championship contributing more than $1.75 million in prize money alone.

Who is Brooke Henderson's fiancé? 

Ricky Castro is a pitcher for the St. Paul Saints, the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.

The couple met in Naples, Florida, where Henderson owns a home, before beginning their relationship in March 2025. 

Their shared experiences as professional athletes have helped them navigate the demands of competing at the highest level while spending much of the year travelling.

Speaking to Golfweek last year, Henderson explained why dating another elite athlete has made life on tour easier.

"I feel like this life out here is pretty difficult because you travel so much," Henderson said.

"He's traveling a lot, I'm traveling a lot, so he really understands the lifestyle and all that it takes to perform at your best. He's very understanding that way, which I think is really key in a relationship out here."

When asked whether Castro had taken up golf, Henderson admitted there is still work to do.

"We're working on it," she joked, before adding: "He hits it super far, which is really impressive."

The winningest golfer in Canadian history will now look to carry her excellent recent form into the final major of the season when she tees it up at the AIG Women's British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes next week.
