Defending John Deere Classic champion Davis Thompson has confirmed his frat house consisting of seven PGA Tour players will involve a strict no WAGs policy, at least until the weekend.

Thompson, who won his maiden PGA Tour title at TPC Deere Run last season, has once again rented the same house in the area alongside six of his peers - Denny McCarthy, Chris Kirk, JT Poston, Greyson Sigg, Patton Kizzire and Ben Kohles.

A superstitious Thompson is also staying in the room, hoping history will repeat itself this weekend.

But until then, it's boys only.

"Some guys came in Monday night, so I was able to -- I came here Sunday night after Detroit, so was able to snag the same room when I got here," Thompson told reporters in his Wednesday press conference.

Thompson added: "I think Monday through Thursday is kind of like guys hanging out and then the wives and the family kind of come up for the weekend.

"Some of them are getting on the charter to go to the Scottish. I feel like after Thursday families are welcome to come."

As for his game heading into the first title defence of his PGA Tour career, Thompson admits it's getting there after a tough opening half of the season.

Thompson enters this week with just two top-20 finishes to his name.

"Yeah, I feel like I've been doing a lot of really good things but it just hasn't really come together for four rounds yet, so just trying to put four rounds together.

"I've had a lot of good 9-hole, 12-hole stretches or 36-hole stretches and 9 holes or 18 holes kind of get me.

"It's been frustrating, but just trying to put it all together.

"Obviously I have a lot of confidence on this course, so hopefully that will translate to some really good scores this week."

Other players in the field this week include in-form Ben Griffin, Jason Day and last week's first-time winner Aldrich Potgieter.
