Junior PGA Final Scores: Did Charlie Woods make the US Junior Ryder Cup team?

Junior PGA Championship Final Scores: Tiger Woods' son Charlie Woods cards his worst round of the week but still finishes inside the top 10.

Charlie Woods failed to build on his positive start to the Junior PGA by closing with a 3-over 74 at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in Indiana, and he fell shy in his bid to make the US Junior Ryder Cup team.

Two places were available in the US Junior Ryder Cup team for the top two finishers at the 2025 Junior PGA Championship.

Woods, 16, headed into Friday's final round at 12-under par, which saw him play in the final group of the day albeit seven shots behind the leader.

He opened the week with a round of 70 and then surged into contention with a pair of 66s on Wednesday and Thursday.

Both of his rounds of 66 comprised of nine birdies each.

After Thursday's rollercoaster third round, Woods admitted he "nearly had a heart attack" as a result of his game being so up and down.

Sadly on Friday, Woods failed to fire.

After going out in level par in the final round, Woods stumbled home in 38 shots to end the week at 9-under par in a tie for ninth.

Lunden Esterline led the tournament after the second round and he never looked back.

Esterline, who surged to the front thanks to a 62 on day two, closed things out with a round of 71 to finish the week at 19-under par.

That was enough for a commanding six-shot victory, and it also ensured his playing privileges in the US Junior Ryder Cup team in September.

The second place in the Junior Ryder Cup is being fought out between joint runners-up Giuseppe Puebla, who closed with a brilliant 64, and Tyler Mawhinney, who posted a 69.

Esterline wins

Esterline -19 (F)

It's a closing par on 18 for Esterline, who cards a 71 to win by six shots on 19-under par.

A brilliant performance.

Esterline takes the first spot in the US Junior Ryder Cup team.

We'll now await to see who takes the second spot.

There's a playoff taking place between Puebla and Mawhinney.

19:46
Charlie 74

Woods -9 (F)

Charlie closes with a disappointing 74 in the end.

His birdie putt on 18 went in and then out.

Charlie ends the week at 9-under par in a tie for ninth.

Still a fantastic effort.

19:30
Playoff for Ryder Cup spot

Puebla, Mawhinney -13 (F)

We'll have a playoff to see who picks up the coveted second spot in the US Junior Ryder Cup team.

Esterline will take the first spot as he's running with things at 19-under par with one hole to play.

The second place will now be decided between Puebla and Mawhinney.

We've barely heard of Puebla all day but he's flown up the board with a brilliant 64, the best round of the day by some considerable margin.

Badgett will have a chance to join the playoff but he will need to birdie the 18th.

19:28
Pressure gets to Fynaut

Fynaut -12 (F)

Fynaut had the US Junior Ryder Cup place in his hands, but he blew it with a double on 18.

He's back to 12-under par.

19:20
Par for Charlie

Woods -9 (16)

Par for Charlie at 16 who remains at 9-under par in T9.

19:20
Esterline birdie

Esterline -19 (16)

Birdie for the leader.

Five ahead.

19:11
Fynaut second

Fynaut -14, Mawhinney -12 (17)

Fynaut moves into solo second after a double from Mawhinney on 17.

It means Fynaut is now closing in on the second spot on the US Junior Ryder Cup team.

Esterline remains four shots ahead on 18-under par thru 15 holes.

18:59
Hou double

Hou -13 (16)

It's a double on the par-5 16th for China's Hou, who falls out of solo second and into T4.

Fynaut and Mawhinney are now in a tie for second on 14-under par and battling out that all-important second spot in the US Junior Ryder Cup team.

Esterline is still cruising out in front at 18-under par with three holes left to play.

18:57
Double trouble

Woods -9 (15)

The wheels have come off for Charlie sadly with a bogey on 14 followed by a double at 15.

He's now 3-over par for the round and back to 9-under par in T10.

Still a brilliant week.

18:43
Esterline bogey

Esterline -18 (14)

Another bogey for the leader, who drops back to 18-under par.

Still three shots ahead, but Lunden is feeling the heat down the closing stretch.

Hou is in solo second on 15-under par, one shot ahead of Fynaut.

18:41
Bogey at 14

Woods -11 (14)

It's a third bogey of the day for Charlie, who falls to 11-under par in tied seventh.

Second place and a Junior Ryder Cup spot has gone now.

Still a brilliant week.

18:25
Esterline bogey

Esterline -19 (13)

It's a second bogey of the round for runaway leader Esterline, who slips back to 19-under par.

But he's still comfortably four shots ahead down the closing stretch.

Fynaut and Hou are in a tie for second on 15-under par thru 14 holes.

18:15
Birdie on 12

Woods -12 (12)

Charlie sinks a 10 footer for birdie to get back to 12-under par in a tie for sixth.

18:00
Bogey on 10

Woods -11 (11)

Charlie opens the back nine with a bogey on 10 and a par on 11.

He's now four shots behind second and looks out of the mix to earn a place on the US Junior Ryder Cup team.

Esterline, playing alongside Woods, is still cruising out in front, albeit he's now four shots clear on 20-under par.

17:33
Esterline cruising

Esterline -20 (9)

Lunden is still running away with the Junior PGA, and deservedly so at 20-under par for the tournament as he makes the turn in the final round.

He's only the 1-under for the round so far today with two birdies and a bogey on his outward nine, but he's clear by five shots out in front.

A star in the making for sure.

17:28
Bogey at 9

Woods -12 (9)

It's a first bogey of the round for Charlie on the par-4 9th, and it's come at the worst possible time.

He now falls to 12-under par and three shots behind second.

T6 as he makes the turn, but this is still a great week for Charlie, who continues to impress on the major junior stage.

17:26
Three pars in a row

Woods -13 (8)

Charlie makes three pars in a row to remain at 13-under par.

His par on 8 was pretty epic.

He took a leaf out of his dad's book with his shot around the tree to 20 feet.

Charlie is two shots behind second now, which of course would earn him a spot on the US Junior Ryder Cup team.

He'll need  a big back nine if he's to make that dream a reality.

How good is Charlie Woods?

Naturally, you might be wondering just how good Charlie Woods is at golf.

Charlie is a rising junior at the Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida.

Donald Trump's granddaughter Kai, 17, also goes to the same school.

Charlie has already picked up a couple of wins, but undoubtedly his biggest came in May when he won his first American Junior Golf Association title at the Team TaylorMade Invitational.

Tiger won eight AJGA titles when he was a nipper, but his old nemesis Phil Mickelson has the most wins with 12.

Charlie also qualified for the US Junior Amateur for the second year in a row, but missed the cut after shooting rounds of 82-80.

Take a look at Charlie's birdie putt

Ethan Hanson of the Journal & Courier is tracking Charlie today.

He's grabbed a video of Charlie's birdie putt at the 5th:

16:33
Birdie for Charlie!

C. Woods -14 (5)

Charlie gets his first birdie of the day at the par-5 5th.

That moves him to 13-under par in a share of fourth place with Tyler Mawhinney.

China's Zenghao Hou has made a big move early on, firing three birdies in his opening six holes to move up into a share of second with Pennson Badgett.

Lunden Esterline, the 54-hole leader, is level par through five holes.

16:30
How Charlie reacted to his third round

It's not often we get to hear from Charlie, but he spoke to a group of reporters yesterday after firing his second consecutive round of 66, which contained nine birdies.

"It was so much fun," Woods told the Lafayette Journal & Courier.

"I had a pretty fun chip on 16, but I just enjoyed being out there, having fun and hopefully I have a good chance of winning tomorrow."

He added: "My round was pretty up and down, and it gave me a heart attack out there. But nine birdies is pretty good.

"A couple of three-putts, I made a few mistakes today but overall pretty solid round. Pretty good position going into tomorrow."

16:21
Solid start for Charlie

Welcome to live final round updates of the Junior PGA Championships in Indiana.

Tiger Woods' teenage son Charlie is looking to seal his spot on the US Junior Ryder Cup team.

The 16-year-old began the day tied for second place on 12-under.

He's made a solid start here, with pars at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
