Multiple PGA Tour winner Kevin Kisner has offered a fresh insight into Tiger Woods' potential playing schedule in 2027 after revealing why he was dropped from the 15-time major champion's TGL team.

Kisner was an original member of Jupiter Links GC when the indoor golf league launched in 2025, joining Woods, Max Homa and Tom Kim.

The 42-year-old returned for the second season and helped the quartet reach the final, but he will not feature in the third campaign which begins in December.

TGL confirmed its 35-player line-up for season three on Monday, with Xander Schauffele and Adam Scott among the notable absentees.

Kisner has been replaced in the Jupiter Links team with Keith Mitchell.

"Obviously, I'm not on the team anymore and they wanted me to go," Kisner revealed on the Fore Play podcast.

"Tiger wants to play and then they wanted to sign Keith Mitchell, which is totally fine with me."

Kisner, who also doubled down on his recent criticism of Rory McIlroy, said Woods' close friend and confidant, Rob McNamara, informed him of the decision via text message.

"He texted me a long text last week, I think," Kisner said.

"Just telling me what they did with their decisions, how they were moving around and what players were going to do, and that Tiger wanted to play a full schedule."

News that Tiger Woods hopes to play a full TGL schedule in 2027 will inevitably fuel hopes among his legion of fans that the 50-year-old could also feature in the men’s majors.

Woods will be particularly keen to make one final appearance at St Andrews when The Open returns to the Old Course, while Pebble Beach will host the U.S. Open.

Woods has not made a competitive appearance since missing the cut at the 2024 Open, held at Royal Troon in Scotland.

Since then, Woods went under the knife for a seventh operation on his back.

He was expected to make his comeback to the sport at the 2026 Masters Tournament but withdrew from the field after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Woods put his legal issues behind him on 2 September by agreeing not to contest a reckless driving charge as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.

The golfer accepted a five-year suspension of his driving licence and a $1,000 (£742) fine, as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors in Martin County, Florida.

Major champs leave TGL

TGL has unveiled a revamped roster for its 2026-27 season on Monday, with 12 players set to make their league debuts and the addition of a seventh team led by five-time major champion Brooks Koepka.

The new line-up, announced on October 20, features several notable changes, with Xander Schauffele, Adam Scott, Kevin Kisner and Lucas Glover absent from the rosters for the upcoming campaign.

Rory McIlroy's Boston Common Golf team has added Shane Lowry and Michael Thorbjornsen, while Ryan Fox moves to The Bay Golf Club.

Elsewhere, New York Golf Club has added Alex Fitzpatrick and Ben Griffin following Schauffele's departure, while Atlanta Drive GC has brought in Michael Brennan.

Defending champions Los Angeles Golf Club retain their title-winning core and add Ben James.

The third season of the indoor team golf league is scheduled to begin on December 27, with teams expanding from four players to five, although three golfers will compete in each match
