PGA Tour fans stunned as multiple major champions left out TGL Season 3

Xander Schauffele, Adam Scott, Lucas Glover and Kevin Kisner are among the notable names missing as TGL confirms its rosters for the 2027 season.

TGL has confirmed its 35-player line-ups for Season 3, but the absence of several major champions including Xander Schauffele is already raising eyebrows ahead of the league's return in December.

Two-time major winner Schauffele is arguably the biggest omission, having represented New York Golf Club since the competition launched in 2025.

Former Masters champion Adam Scott, 2009 U.S. Open winner Lucas Glover and Kevin Kisner have also been left out as the indoor golf league expands to seven teams and 35 players.

While Glover and Kisner's omissions may be less surprising given TGL's apparent preference for younger, more exciting talent, the credentials of those missing make the latest roster shake-up particularly noteworthy.

It should also be noted that World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, a four-time major champion, is once again absent from TGL.

However, Scheffler did not feature in either of TGL's first two seasons, meaning his absence from the 2027 campaign is nothing new.

Some players may have opted against participating to prioritise their performances on the PGA Tour, avoiding the additional demands of TGL earlier in the week. Others may simply prefer to spend more time with their families, which has been a key consideration behind Scheffler's decision not to take part.

Nevertheless, Schauffele's absence has surprised a number of PGA Tour fans on social media following the announcement of the new team rosters for 2027.

Xander Schauffele headlines list of absentees

Schauffele's absence is the standout talking point after New York announced a five-player roster without the American.

The 32-year-old enjoyed a landmark 2024 season, winning both the PGA Championship and The Open to establish himself among the game's elite.

However, he will not feature alongside Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler and Cameron Young for the third season of TGL.

Alex Fitzpatrick and Ben Griffin have instead been drafted in for New York's line-up for the upcoming campaign.

No official explanation has yet been provided for Schauffele's omission.

Scott is another high-profile casualty, with the 46-year-old Australian missing from Rory McIlroy's Boston Common Golf roster.

The 2013 Masters champion will not return for the 2027 campaign, with McIlroy instead joined by Hideki Matsuyama, Keegan Bradley, Michael Thorbjornsen and the team's new signing Shane Lowry, who was drafted from The Bay GC.

Lucas Glover and Kevin Kisner also miss out

Glover and Kisner are perhaps less surprising omissions as TGL continues to bring younger players into its fast-paced indoor format.

Nevertheless, Glover's major-winning pedigree deserves recognition.

The 46-year-old American claimed the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage Black and enjoyed a memorable resurgence in 2023, winning consecutive PGA Tour events at the Wyndham Championship and FedEx St Jude Championship.

Despite that experience, he has not been retained by Atlanta Drive GC, whose five-man roster features Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, Chris Gotterup and exciting new signing Michael Brennan.

Big-hitting Brennan, 24, recently captured his third PGA Tour title at the Baycurrent Classic.

Kisner's absence, meanwhile, may be easier to understand given that his professional golf career has taken something of a backseat in recent years.

The 42-year-old American now works as an analyst for NBC Sports, having increasingly moved into broadcasting alongside his playing commitments.

With his focus shifting towards life in the commentary booth, his omission from Tiger Woods' Jupiter Links Golf Club roster perhaps comes as less of a surprise than some of the other notable absences.

However, Kisner has still made headlines recently after becoming embroiled in a war of words with McIlroy.

The American reportedly claimed the World No. 2 was in India primarily to collect a substantial appearance fee, sparking discussion given the pair's positions within professional golf.

It remains unknown whether the exchange had anything to do with Kisner's omission from Woods' team, and there is no confirmed evidence linking the two developments.

Jupiter's line-up will feature Woods, Max Homa, Tom Kim, Akshay Bhatia and new signing Keith Mitchell.
