PGA Tour star Jackson Koivun joins Brooks Koepka’s new TGL team for 2027
Koivun will team up with five-time major champion Brooks Koepka for Motor City’s TGL debut in 2027.

Jackson Koivun’s extraordinary rise has continued with the 21-year-old PGA Tour star joining Brooks Koepka’s new Motor City Golf Club team ahead of the 2027 TGL season.
Koivun will become one of the headline names on Detroit’s new franchise, teaming up with five-time major champion Koepka when the technology-driven golf league returns for its third season next year.
The move comes at the end of a remarkable few months for Koivun, who has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young players in professional golf.
After turning professional earlier this year, the former Auburn standout claimed his maiden PGA Tour title at the 3M Open in just his third start.
He then produced another eye-catching performance at the Presidents Cup, where he went unbeaten on his debut as the United States staged a dramatic comeback to retain the trophy.
Koivun finished the week with a 2-0-1 record and 2.5 points, making him the only American player to avoid defeat during the competition.
His biggest moment came in Sunday’s singles, when he recovered from two holes down against Si Woo Kim after 10 holes.
Koivun won four of the next six holes to completely change the match before closing out a 2&1 victory and helping the United States recover from a three-point deficit going into the final day.
His performances have made the decision to add him to Motor City’s inaugural roster an easy one for the franchise.
“Jackson showed at the Presidents Cup that he is built for the big moments,” said team governor Michael Hamp.
“His competitive spirit, grit and the energy he brings to a team are exactly what we envision for Motor City Golf Club.”
Koivun has already built an impressive reputation in team golf. During his time at Auburn, he helped the Tigers win two NCAA titles and became the first player to win the Fred Haskins, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus awards twice.
He has also represented the United States at the Walker Cup, Arnold Palmer Cup and Junior Presidents Cup.
That experience should make him a natural fit for TGL, where players compete as part of four-man teams inside a purpose-built arena.
For Koivun, the chance to continue playing team golf was a major attraction.
“Some of my best experiences have come while playing team golf, from winning national championships at Auburn to representing the U.S. at the Presidents Cup,” he said.
“Having teammates alongside you and feeling that energy from the fans makes those moments even better.”
Koivun will now bring that experience to Motor City alongside Koepka, giving the new franchise a fascinating mix of established major championship pedigree and emerging PGA Tour talent.
And considering how quickly Koivun has made his mark since turning professional, his TGL debut could be another opportunity for the youngster to show why so many are tipping him for a huge future.
