Report: Scottie Scheffler stuns junior golfers with classy touch away from cameras

Former PGA Tour pro turned golf commentator and analyst Colt Knost has revealed Scottie Scheffler left a group of junior players stunned last week.

The American, 41, had the opportunity to play 18 holes with the world number one at Royal Oaks Country Club.

Scheffler has been a member of the Texas-based venue since he was a six years old.

He met his lifelong swing coach, Randy Smith, there and frequently uses the base to hone his game around the men's majors and PGA Tour events.

According to Knost, Scheffler took time out of their game of 'wolf' to go and congratulate a junior player who had recently won the club championship.

Knost said the moment was all the more special as there were no cameras around.

"I just want to tell you the kind of man Scottie Scheffler is," Knost told SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio.

"We were playing on Friday at Royal Oaks Country Club and the 18th hole is a par-5 and the back tee box is literally 15 yards from the back end of the range.

"We were walking back playing our hammer wolf game and this is the number one player in the world.

"There are probably, I would say, five junior golfers on the range. I believe they play at Highland Park, which is where Scottie did as well.

"He's walking back to the tee and I hear [Scottie say] 'is that the junior club champ over there?'.

"All the kids turned around and the kid was just shocked, Scottie Scheffler knew the kid won the junior club championship and took time out of his day, walked over there, high fived him, gave him a hug and talked to those juniors for a few minutes while we were playing golf.

Added Knost: "I just loved it so much. He was that kid at one point, following all the pros around.

"The fact he is now number one in the world and does not forget where he has come from and acts the way he does, when people don’t see it. There was not a bunch of cameras around; nobody was filming it.

"And I bet that kid who gets to school tomorrow will tell all his friends ‘Scottie Scheffler knows I won the junior club championship.'"

Scheffler enjoyed another dominant season on the PGA Tour in 2026.

Although he didn't add to his haul of four major wins, the American capped off his season by winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the Tour Championship at East Lake.

Scheffler also finished the Presidents Cup with a 3-1-0 record as the United States rallied to defeat the International team 17-13 at Medinah Country Club.

Scheffler is most likely to return to the sport the Hero World Challenge in December.

The invite-only PGA Tour event is hosted by Tiger Woods.

Scheffler won the Hero World Challenge in 2023 and 2024 and finished fourth in 2025.
