Multiple PGA Tour winner Tom Hoge made a devastating quintuple-bogey that had pretty much everything on day two of the 2026 Players Championship.

PGA Tour winner Tom Hoge will be among those that will miss the cut at the 2026 Players Championship

The 36-year-old American, whose sole victory on the PGA Tour came three years ago at Pebble Beach but is likely best known for that utterly hilarious Tiger Woods press conference moment in 2015, carded an eight-over 80 on Friday.

It left him on nine-over par for the championship and with absolutely no hope of sticking around for the weekend.

His round on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass included three bogeys, one double bogey, two birdies and a rarely seen quintuple-bogey nine at the par-four seventh hole.

And, dear reader, it had pretty much everything. This is truly a "one of us moment".

Let's unpack it here.

How did Tom Hoge make a nine?

Shot one: Hoge hit a 271-yard drive, but the only problem was that it was miles left and it sailed into the water, leading to a penalty drop.

Shot three: Hoge was still miles back but topped his fairway wood to the edge of the fairway bunker.

Shot four: From an awkward lie, Hoge hit a brutal shank towards the right trees that settled on the cart path.

Shot five: Hoge stayed right again and his golf ball landed in the thick rough.

Shot six: Hoge gouged it out of the thick stuff but found the bunker at the front of the green.

Shot seven: To his credit, Hoge splashed out nicely and left himself inside six feet.

Shot eight: Hoge missed the left-to-right slider.

Shot nine: In the hole.

Brutal.

To his credit, Hoge didn't immediately tomahawk his putter across the green. He just looked dejected.

We've all been there, haven't we?!
