Presidents Cup captain's picks: Snedeker and Ogilvy complete their rosters

US Presidents Cup skipper Brandt Snedeker delivered the biggest surprise as he and his counterpart Geoff Ogilvy unveiled their captain's picks for the forthcoming contest.

The biennial clash, which is run by the PGA Tour, will be played at Medinah Country Club in Chicago, Illinois, over 24-27 September. 

Team USA have been utterly dominant in the affair since its inception and have won 13 of the 15 previous editions. 

The International side were victorious on home soil in 1998, whilst Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player agreed to call the 2003 contest a draw after Tiger Woods and Ernie Els could not be separated in a sudden-death playoff.

Ogilvy and Snedeker announced their six captain's picks on the Golf Channel on Tuesday live from the PGA Tour's swanky new studios in Florida. 

Snedeker's team already included world number one and recent FedEx Cup winner Scottie Scheffler, reigning Players champion Cameron Young, U.S. Open winner Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa. 

He has selected Chris Gotterup, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Jacob Bridgeman and Jackson Koivun.

Ogilvy chose Corey Conners, Nico Echavarria, Nick Taylor, Ryo Hisatsune, Sungjae Im and Christiaan Bezuidenhout,

They will join automatic qualifiers Hideki Matsuyama, Si Woo Kim, Adam Scott, Min Woo Lee, Tom Kim and Open champion Ryan Fox.

The selections for both were largely unsurprising. 

Gotterup has won three times on the PGA Tour this season whilst Schauffele, Thomas and Cantlay and bring considerable experience to the team room.

Bridgeman's body of work this season has been impressive, with the 26-year-old breaking into the top 50 of the world rankings after winning the Genesis Invitational at Riviera and producing six top-10 finishes.

Snedeker's biggest surprise, of course, was the inclusion of Koivun. 

The 21-year-old only turned professional in June after the U.S. Open and has already won on the PGA Tour. 

Koivun held off a charge from Scheffler to win the 3M Open in Minnesota. 

Snedeker has undoubtedly made the decision to include Koivun to give the youngster valuable experience ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup.

Both teams will be without any LIV Golf players as the four-day event is run by the PGA Tour. 

That means the U.S. side will be without Bryson DeChambeau, whilst the International team may have called on the likes of Cameron Smith, Joaquin Niemann and Lucas Herbert. 

Home captain Snedeker also confirmed the 16th edition of the Presidents Cup will begin with fourballs. 

Foursomes, also known as alternate shot, will be played on day two whilst both formats will be used on the third day.

The final day will conclude with 12 singles matches. 

Snedeker's assistants are Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson, Gary Woodland and 2027 Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk. 

Ogilvy will be assisted by Trevor Immelman, Camilo Villegas, Tim Clark and Taylor Pendrith.
