Presidents Cup: International team lead United States 10½-7½ heading into Sunday singles

Geoff Ogilvy's International side are closing in on the biggest upset in the history of the Presidents Cup. 

The Shield have only won the biennial competition against the United States once in 1998 but are on the verge of a stunning upset at Medinah Country Club in Chicago. 

It is the first time since the competition began in 1994 that the International team will take a lead into the final day when on U.S. soil. 

The score is 10½-7½ after Saturday's double session that included four fourballs contests and four foursomes matches. 

Team USA edged the morning session. Chris Gotterup and Cameron Young teamed up to defeat the Canadian duo of Nick Taylor and Corey Conners 2&1.

World number one Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns added another point to the board with a 2&1 victory over Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune. 

Justin Thomas and Presidents Cup rookie Jackson Koivun tied their match against Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im, whilst the only International point of the morning arrived thanks to Si Woo Kim and Tom Kim, who defeated Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark. 

United States captain Brandt Snedeker decided to bench Scheffler in the afternoon session. 

He watched his selections take the lead in all four matches but as the afternoon wore on the momentum shifted. 

Conners and Taylor came from three down to defeat Russell Henley and Jacob Bridgeman 1up. 

Fox and Lee were one down to Sam Burns and Wyndham Clark after six holes but flipped the match on the 9th hole and produced a string of birdies down the stretch to close out a 3&2 victory. 

Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim were defeated by Cantlay and Schauffele 2&1, whilst Young and Gotterup dispatched Adam Scott and Sungjae Im 6&4. 

The 2026 Presidents Cup will conclude with 12 singles contests. 

The International team need 15½ points to win.

United States captain Brandt Snedeker: "It's going to take a team effort. I think we're going to try to get our guys out there that are ready to handle it. 

"They're playing well. Get this crowd going. But as I said, it's just one point per match. 

"Every guy has got to be able to take care of their own business and be ready to go."

International captain Geoff Ogilvy: "What a day. The U.S. Team, they came out firing as we knew they would. 

"They were up in all four in the morning, and we thought we stole a point and a half a little bit to get out of that with only 2½-1½.

"This afternoon, same thing. The U.S. guys came out playing well, which we know they're going to. They're some of the best players in the world. 

"But the boys hung tough and sort of weathered the storm if you like and started making a few putts. 

"To get 2-2 in that session was a really good result for us"

"The goal at the start of the week is to be leading going into singles. That's sort of what the first three days are all about. 

"There's still 12 points on the board, though, so we've seen in these team events all sorts of different things can happen. 

"So we've got to put our heads down and play for a big opportunity tomorrow."
