The Heathland Vase: New elite women’s golf championship announced for 2027
Two renowned heathland clubs are joining forces for something new in women’s golf.

Two of the South of England’s most highly regarded heathland golf clubs, Blackmoor Golf Club and Hindhead Golf Club, have joined forces to launch a new elite women’s amateur championship.
The Heathland Vase will take place on 7–8 August 2027, bringing together leading female amateur golfers from across England and beyond for a 54-hole stroke play competition across the two Hampshire venues.
The championship has been created to address a recognised gap in the elite women’s amateur calendar, particularly during the summer holiday period when many younger elite players are available to compete.
The inaugural event will see competitors play 36 holes at Blackmoor on Saturday 7 August, followed by a final 18 holes at Hindhead on Sunday 8 August.
The organising committee intends to seek World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status and is working with the two clubs and relevant golfing bodies to establish The Heathland Vase as a significant fixture in the women’s amateur game.

Alison West, Chair of the Joint Tournament Committee and Ladies’ Captain at Blackmoor Golf Club, said: “We are excited to launch The Heathland Vase and create an event that showcases two outstanding heathland golf courses while providing a new competitive opportunity for elite female golfers. We hope this championship will become a regular and prestigious fixture within the women’s amateur calendar.”
Lorraine Tuffin, Ladies’ Vice-Captain at Hindhead Golf Club, added: “The collaboration between Hindhead and Blackmoor has created a unique opportunity to develop something special for women’s golf. Both clubs share a commitment to supporting the amateur game and we look forward to welcoming players from across the country in 2027.”

The championship is open to elite women amateur golfers with a handicap limit of 7.
