Yonex i-Ezone

The results were close but one club emerges as the winner

Yonex i-Ezone

Brand:
Yonex
3-wood: i-Ezone
RRP:
 £149 Best price: £119
Loft:
 15-degree Lie: 59-degree Length:  43” Swing Weight: D2.5
Shaft: NST300EX Grip: Golf Pride Tour Velvet

Summary: Yonex has revolutionised the conventional graphite crown into a cup type and enlarged the area between the toe and side sole of the clubhead. This has resulted in a 3g lighter crown and shifts the weight to the side sole to create the deepest centre of gravity ever produced in a Yonex club, allowing the golfer to generate quicker swing speeds for powerful, longer and more accurate drives.

Appearance: Quite bland looking with a white strip running down the front of the black crown and small triangle in centre to help square the face up to the ball but it’s effective enough. We also like how you could see the face over the ball. 8

Feel: Black and white shaft felt stable enough for my swing speed but sound at impact was far too loud. 7

Performance: This fairway wood was one of the easiest launching in the test due to the deepening of the centre of gravity. Distance was above average, too. Impressive. 9

Verdict:
Yonex is not normally a brand I would associate with high performing woods but this ticked all the right boxes in terms of performance. Feel and appearance let it down somewhat. 24

Pro Verdict: Very loud off the face but I quite like it. Aside from sound at impact, it travels out there, is forgiving and sits nicely behind the ball.
