Summary: Combining Mizuno's Hot Metal face design and ultra pocket cavity (4 to 7-iron), the JPX-EZ irons fire higher and longer with a predictable tight dispersion. The Harmonic Impact Technology (H.I.T) engineered cavity frame means the JPX-EZ still feels like every Mizuno iron should.

Appearance: Mizuno’s JPX-EZ iron is a departure from the company’s traditional chrome and satin-finished iron. We're big fans of the black-nickel plating that gives the irons a dark finish and bursts of bright orange in the cavity that begs a closer look. Progressive cavity design is another plus point - a hallmark of recent Mizuno iron releases. Although the bigger-than-ideal head on this cast model does little to inspire confidence standing over the ball, the anti-glare, dark gun-metal darkened finish makes up for it. It's different and not something we'd necessarily expect from Mizuno. 4

Feel: Sound at impact through Mizuno's innovative Harmonic Impact Technology provides a soft, yet crushing blow at impact. Mizuno has installed a new, lighter shaft - True Temper XP 105 - a shaft we feel works best for the entry level player with slower swing speeds. 9.5

Performance: The fiery orange colour choice becomes particularly apt given the hotness off the face. These irons have been lofted somewhat at 28-degree - just one degree short of the highest-lofted PING G25 in this test - and balls fly solidly and high up off the face each and every time. Much to our delight, the long irons have the deepest cavities and the shorter clubs have shallow cavities. This iron provides terrific forgiveness, an increase in ball speed and higher launch with the long irons, as well as soft, descending blows with the shorter ones. The 6-iron was landing longer than average, too. 9.5

Verdict: It's EZ to see why Mizuno has called this EZ. We cannot describe how easy these babies are to get airborne, and the forgiveness on offer is out of this world. Looks great in the bag, too. Solid value for money. 23
