6: Driver loft

The loft of a driver depends how high the ball will fly off the clubface.

The average loft ranges from eight to 12 degrees – in order to find out which loft will give you maximum distance, it’s best to get a professional fitting.

It’s not as simple as one loft fits all – some drivers perform better with more loft, and some with less.

Generally, those with slower swing speeds will want more loft than those with fast swing speeds.

Many drivers have loft sleeves, allowing players to manipulate the loft with a key.
