Tiger Woods' Tour Championship win leads to 206% rise in TV ratings

Tiger Woods' victory at the Tour Championship led to an incredible 206% rise on NBC's TV ratings in comparison to the same tournament last year when Xander Schauffele ousted Justin Thomas.

Woods' first victory in five years drew a 5.21 overnight rating, the highest of any non-major championship. The former world number one may have stumbled home but he held on for a two-stroke victory over Billy Horschel on 11-under par.

The race for the season-long FedEx Cup also went down to the wire with Justin Rose making birdie at the 72nd hole to sweep the $10 million prize out of Woods' hands.

NBC's ratings peaked at a 7.19 during the 5:30-6:00 pm ET window, which according to NBC, which trailed only The Masters (11.03) and the US PGA Championship (8.28) this season.

As for the Tour Championship versus previous PGA Tour season finales, there's no comparison. On record, this year's was the most-watched in the tournament's history, and it's also the most-watched FedEx Cup Playoffs event since the tour's postseason began in 2007.

And let's not forget, this tournament was going up against NFL Sunday.
