Expect Adams Golf to add an extra dimension to the quest for a straight-hitting, forgiving driver with the launch in the New Year of its latest Insight XTD driver.

Already the official driver of the Long Drivers of America circuit, Adams says its latest square-headed product delivers length as well as consistent accuracy by expanding the impact zone of the face to maximise ball speed even from miss-hits.

By using Boxer technology, the geometric shaping used in the company's top-rated hybrids, Adams claims its engineers have created draw and neutral-biased versions in a bid to gain the longest possible distance for all types of swing speeds.

The draw biased Insight XTD a3OS is targeted at slower swing speeds to square the face and get the ball airborne and the neutral-biased Insight XTD a3 improves launch conditions for medium to high swing speed players.

Says Tim Reed, head of Adams' research and development team: "These are high MOI drivers but not at the expense of less distance. By utilising the Boxer Technology, we went for distance first, then forgiveness."

The Insight XTD will be the official driver of the LDA, which includes the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship and will be in the hands of the game's most powerful ball strikers as they compete in the premier event in power golf.

Available lofts are expected to be 8.5 degrees to high loft (13 plus) across both models. Price is likely to be around £200 in February/March.
