The Open: Harrington straps tennis balls to footwear

Two-time Open champ bounces onto the range with new balance aid

The Open: Harrington straps tennis balls to footwear

Padraig Harrington served up a treat on day one of the Open Championship by sporting what looked like a tennis-ball-balance-aid thingy attached to the sole of his footwear on the Muirfield practice range.

Unfortunately for the two-time Open champion there was little balance to his performance as two birdies and four bogeys led to an opening 2-over 73 and seven-shot deficit on day-one pacesetter Zach Johnson.

But according to Harrington, this golf training exercise, which aids core stabilisation and improved dynamic balance, goes by the name of the 'chango paw'.

If any Golfmagic members have worked on this sort of drill out on the range before, we'd love to hear your comments in the forum below...
