Jason Day pulled off one of the best bunker shots we've seen in golf for a long time, using a 6 iron.

If you're someone who takes about three attempts to get out of a bunker using a sand wedge, this one might sting a little, but you have to admire the sheer talent shown by Jason Day during the skins competition in Japan.

The MGM Resorts The Challenge: Japan Skins, involved four of the best golfers in the world, as Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Jason Day and Hideki Matsuyama took part in the inaugural GOLFTV event.

Day was the eventual winner, taking home $210,000, but not many people got to watch much of the action due to the time it was on, especially if you're in the UK and don't have GOLFTV.

During the event there were three challenges, one of which came at the par-5 14th at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Japan, where players were only allowed to play the hole with one club.

McIlroy went with a 5 iron and Woods a 4 iron, while both Matsuyama and Day chose a 6 iron. Three players impressively parred the hole and it would have been all four of them had Matsuyama not three-putted after finding the green in regulation, but the way in which Day went about his par was spectacular.

After finding a deep-greenside bunker from his third shot, the Australian faced a horrible shot from the sand, considering he couldn't pull out his lob wedge, but Day showed just why he's one of the best players in the world as he splashed his ball out of the sand with his 6 iron to leave his ball just a few feet away from the hole, where he then tapped it in for par. Check it out for yourself below:

“I haven’t hit a bunker shot with a 6-iron in probably eight years,” said Day, who had to squat low to the ground in order to pull off the shot. “I felt like I was sitting on the sand."
