Teenage star Anna Huang completed a dominant victory at the La Sella Open in Spain as she blitzed the field by seven shots.

The 16-year-old led from start to finish to collect her maiden Ladies European Tour title with an impressive winning score of 20-under par.

Huang opened with a superb 64 and her lead was rarely under threat after she added a 66 on Friday, with two weekend rounds of 69 proving more than enough to wrap up victory.

The LET rookie is the second Canadian player to land an LET title after two-time major champion Brooke Henderson, and her prize for winning was a substantial €150,000.

Huang went into the final round with a three-shot lead and she cantered to the turn in 34 with birdies at the 3rd and 9th holes.

She did drop shots at 13 and 15, but further gains at the 14th, 16th and 18th holes ensured her first victory among the professional ranks.

"Honestly, I’m really shocked right now, I can’t believe I just won," said Huang, who had only three bogeys on her card in 72 holes at the La Sella Resort in Alicante.

“It’s really crazy. I was really focused on the present and the moment, so the scores weren’t really a distraction to me. I was realised focused on hitting each shot to what I could do.

“Being in the final group showed me that I had to stick with the same game plan and not play too conservatively because what I was doing the past few days was working really well, so I kept that up.”

Huang, who will celebrate her 17th birthday in just over a month, also enjoyed having her father as her caddie for the week.

"It’s super special to have my dad on the bag," she added. "He has caddied for me ever since I started playing golf and it’s super special. Being able to win this at 16 is so insane. I never believed this would ever happen, but I’m so proud of myself. I love when people send me text messages, I’m really excited to reply to all of them.

“At the beginning of the season, I didn’t even have a full card so to win is absolutely insane. I remember I was a reserve for Wistron Ladies Open and Aramco China Championship, but after this, I think I’m good.”
