Tiger Woods had a special reason to celebrate on Friday after his son Charlie took another significant step towards a future in college golf, with the 15-time major champion reunited with ex-wife Elin Nordegren for the occasion.

Charlie, 17, officially signed with Florida State University during a ceremony at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, confirming his next destination after an impressive spell on the junior golf circuit.

The teenager was joined by both parents, who posed alongside him wearing Florida State colours.

Nordegren's partner, former NFL player Jordan Cameron, and their three children were also there to share the moment.

Although Charlie announced his intention to join the Seminoles back in February, Friday's ceremony made his commitment official.

He is expected to begin his college career in fall 2027, following his final season at Benjamin School.

Woods made no secret of his pride when his son first revealed the news on Instagram, responding: "Congratulations, Charlie. I'm so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life."

And the timing could hardly be better for the youngster, who has been enjoying a particularly productive run of results in Florida.

Charlie recently helped Benjamin secure the regional championship at Miami Shores Country Club, producing a 1-under 70 as his team defeated Oxbridge Academy in a sudden-death playoff.

It was the second significant victory in consecutive weeks for the teenager, who had already claimed individual honours at the Class 1A-District 14 Championship.

That performance featured a memorable finish, with Charlie rolling in a spectacular 40-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to secure the individual title by a single shot.

He finished with a 2-under 69, while also helping Benjamin claim the team championship by 15 shots.

Those results underline the progress Charlie has made as he prepares for the next stage of his golfing education.

While having Tiger Woods as a father inevitably brings attention, the teenager is increasingly producing performances of his own to attract interest.

His development has also been supported by a growing relationship with TaylorMade, having secured an agreement with the equipment manufacturer.

Friday's ceremony was also another reminder of the relationship Woods and Nordegren have maintained as parents since their divorce was finalised in 2010.

The former couple, who also share daughter Sam, 18, have regularly come together to support their children's achievements.

They were previously seen together at Benjamin's championship ring ceremony in February, while Nordegren also attended the 2024 PNC Championship in Orlando.

Woods is dating Vanessa Trump, mother of golf star Kai Trump, who represents the University of Miami.

Vanessa recently confirmed she is cancer-free.

Attention remains on Woods' own playing future, with injury problems continuing to interrupt his attempts to return to competitive golf.

For now, though, his son's progress is providing plenty of positive news.

With his Florida State commitment officially signed and Benjamin enjoying an excellent season, Charlie is heading towards the final chapter of his high school career with considerable momentum.
