Rory McIlroy putts for eagle, walks off with double!

When was the last time you took five putts on one hole?

Last round? Well console yourself with the fact Rory McIlroy, a four-time major winner, did exactly that in round two of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Putting for eagle at the front of the par-4 fifth on the Monterey Peninsula course, McIlroy took five jabs with the putter to record a double-bogey six...

With these greens, if you start to get a bit tentative with them then it gets away from you. I let the greens get away from me in round two and get into my head a little bit and it was hard to get out of that mindset.

--- Rory Mcllroy

McIlroy opened with a promising 68 at Spyglass Hill, before carding rounds of 74 at Monterey and 72 at Pebble Beach en route to missing the 54-hole cut on 1-under.

The Ulsterman will bid to complete golf's career Grand Slam at The Masters in April, but he will need to sort his putting woes out quickly if he's to enter the record books.

Ted Potter Jr won the AT&T by three strokes on 17-under.
