The chosen quartet join Francesco Molinari, Jon Rahm, Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy, Tyrrell Hatton, Alex Noren, Tommy Fleetwood and Thorbjorn Olesen.

Bjorn said of Casey: "Paul has really shown he's missed the Ryder Cup, and wants to get back in the frame. It was a no brainer for me to bring him back into the team. He brings world class golf to the team and he's a great matchplayer."

On Garcia: "I have so much belief in him. We need people like Sergio who has been through it all, positively and negatively. I feel like he's the one person I can really trust going forwards."

On Poulter: "No real surprise here! Winning a golf tournament is important but having the right frame of mind and how you go into a Ryder Cup is really important. Nobody loves the Ryder Cup more than Ian and I know he can't wait for this to get started."

On Stenson: "He ran into an injury before The Open, but we had those conversations and he put me at ease with what he was saying. Henrik is going to be more than ready for the Ryder Cup. The person he is, the stature he has, and he will look after some of the youngsters. He's just a really good guy to have around the team."
