A rookie card of Tiger Woods has sold for a massive $369,000, which is a new record sale for any golf card.

The card contains a picture of Woods watching the flight of his ball and the 15-time major winner has also signed the card, which significantly increased the value of the card.

Goldin Auctions is the leading marketplace for collectables and trading cards in America and they held the March Premium Auction which featured a host of valuable memorabilia.

The action featured more than 2,400 valuable and rare items which depicted some of the most famous American sportsmen such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Tom Brady.

The auction is expected to be one of the largest ever sports auctions and will rival the total of $45.2 million that was taken by Goldin in their winter auction, which ended last month.

"Enthusiasm for the hobby is continuing to reach new heights. This has been an incredible year for us and the industry overall - and it's only March!” said Ken Goldin, Founder and Chairman of Goldin Auctions.

"We call this our premium auction because it includes some of the rarest and most desirable cards for collectors and we expect the bidding on these items will be spirited, to say the least."

It is no surprise that a Tiger Woods rookie card has sold for so much money considering the records and victories that the American has amassed during his career.

Woods' best moment was arguably his win at The Masters in 2019 when he came back from constant injury setbacks to win his first major in 11 years.
