Rory McIlroy may not be a fan of the venue that hosted the Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour, but Keegan Bradley most certainly is.

American Bradley, 37, picked up his sixth PGA Tour title at the designated event at TPC River Highlands.

It promised to be a tense final day as the American only held a one-shot advantage heading into the final round in Cromwell, Connecticut.

At one point that lead stretched to as many as six shots but Bradley suffered a back nine wobble, making three bogeys in four holes down the stretch.

American duo Zac Blair (62) and Brian Harman (64) threatened to spoil Bradley's day but in the end the 2011 PGA Championship winner held his nerve to win by three strokes at 23-under.

Elsewhere, there were top-10 finishes for Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas and McIlroy

McIlroy claimed the venue was 'obsolete' because of the crazy-low scoring throughout the week in which several players threatened to break 60.

As for Bradley, he paid tribute to his wife Jillian Bradley in the immediate aftermath of his victory. He was visibly emotional as he hugged his two sons Logan and Cooper.

Bradley said:

"It's unbelievable. My wife, Jillian, I love her so much. She's the best. I'm so happy to have my family here. They're my lucky charm and I love them so much."

Bradley said he flew his coach out to Cromwell after he missed the cut at the US Open.

"Something clicked on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and I played great up until the last five or six holes. Lucky enough I had a big enough lead to coast home."

Bradley was referencing when he made bogey on No. 13, 14 and 16.

He added:

"You know, this is for all the kids that grew up in New England. Got to sit through the winters and watch other people play golf.
"I just am so proud to win this tournament. Travelers and everybody involved puts on a first-class tournament. It's been like this for a decade, and I'm so happy to be the winner here."
