Tour Championship 2023: Prize money, odds, starting scores, format

After 42 weeks the end of the 2022-2023 PGA Tour season is here: it's time for the Tour Championship.

Since last September players have jockeyed for position in the hopes they'd be one of the 70 to make the first leg of the FedExCup playoffs in Memphis.

After the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the field was nixed to 50 for the BMW Championship and now only 30 remain.

The Tour Championship at East Lake is now in the fifth year of the staggered-strokes format.

This system was established to give players at the top of the points list the reward of a starting advantage in the Tour Championship

The format has been a source of debate but the idea behind the plan was to get away from having two different winners.

Things changed after 2018 when Tiger Woods won the Tour Championship (his 80th win) and Justin Rose was crowned the overall champion.

Rory McIlroy is the reigning FedExCup champion. Both McIlroy (2016, 2019, 2022) and Woods (2007, 2009) are the only golfers to win it more than once.
