Read the review, and then answer the question at the bottom to enter our competition to Win a Progen Tungsten Steel driver.

Progen have always been known as a company that makes value for money golf clubs but just because they are great value, it doesn’t mean to say they are lacking in credibility by any means.

They have plenty of cred, especially having won industry awards from Golf Weekly with their previous range of Full Bore Woods and Irons and now, Progen are improving on that success with their new range of drivers and fairways woods.

The new Full Bore Tungsten Steel drivers are clubs that graphically demonstrate tremendous technical advancements by its designers and manufacturers, USP Brands Ltd.

Progen Tungsten ST driver…excellent

At only £89.85 for the graphite shafted version, it is hard to see anyone compete with them at this price and for that money, what you get is a good looking, forgiving driver with plenty of distance and excellent playablility.

The Full Bore Tungsten ST drivers feature an over-sized stainless steel head with maximum perimeter weighting creating greater forgiveness on off centre shots. The forged Tungsten sole weighting lowers the centre of gravity, which optimises accuracy and ball flight and with such a low centre of gravity, better players could use this club as a strong 3-wood from the fairway as it flies brilliantly “off the deck”.

The drivers are fitted with performance calibrated Rapport Filament Wound graphite or UST Total Response graphite shafts, they are available in regular, stiff, senior or ladies’ flexes.

Moreover, if you think this is not a bargain yet, wait for the best bit…these woods come with a lifetime guarantee!

On the course, I found them to be just as good as every other driver I have played with for accuracy and ball flight. The feel may not be as good as the Mizuno forged T-Zoid and it may not be as long as the ERC II or the Taylor Made 300 series. But they are premium end equipment at premium end prices…these are well under £100 each.

So for the bargain hunters among you or the fiscally conscious, check the range out…it seems to me to be sale of the century. If you want another 20 yards, go for the ERC…if you want a bargain club that does the job perfectly well, look no further than the Progen Tungsten ST driver.

‘Our Full Bore Woods have already achieved enormous critical acclaim and excellent feedback from our customers – indeed, Golf Weekly readers voted it the Best Value Driver in 1999,’ says Marcus Illingworth, USP Brands’ Managing Director.

‘To build on this success, we’ve invested a tremendous amount of time and money into enhancing our wood design and the technical advancements we’ve made are clearly apparent on the course’ he added.

Yes Marcus, I totally agree with you!
