Patrick Cantlay and Nikki Guidish have got married in Rome just 24 hours after the US Ryder Cup team were defeated at Marco Simone.

USA lost to Europe 16.5-11.5 on Sunday.

The PGA Tour posted two snaps of the happy couple, who got married at St Regis Hotel on Monday afternoon.

The hotel is said to overlook the Piazza della Repubblica and Baths of Diocletian in Rome.

Guidish is a pharmacist and ex fitness model.

Both Cantlay and Guidish are 31.

They got engaged in September 2022 during a trip to California with fellow PGA Tour star Xander Schauffele and his wife Maya.

WHO IS PATRICK CANTLAY'S WIFE NIKKI GUIDISH?

Cantlay lost his first two matches at the Ryder Cup but then rallied finding some form over the weekend to win his last two games.

He teamed up with Wyndham Clark in the Saturday Fourballs and birdied the final two holes to defeat Rory McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick in what proved to be the most controversial game of the 2023 Ryder Cup.

That was all after Cantlay's stand-in caddie Joe LaCava, who had previously been on the bag of Tiger Woods since 2011, took things too far when his man drained a putt from 30 feet for birdie on the 18th.

McIlroy still had a 20 footer for birdie to tie the match but as the Northern Irishman was attempting to line up his putt, LaCava was still getting involved in the celebrations by waving his cap vigorously in the direction of McIlroy.

Both McIlroy and Fitzpatrick missed their birdie attempts and it meant Cantlay and Clark saw out a 1up victory.

The waving of the cap celebration was a result of a controversial report from Sky Sports journalist Jamie Weir that considered Cantlay had refused to wear a cap during Ryder Cup week as a result of him not getting paid to compete in the biennial dust-up.

Cantlay was accused of sparking a rift within Team USA, as per the report.

But Cantlay hit back at the report claiming it was "false".

McIlroy then squared up to LaCava at the back of the green, with Shane Lowry also getting involved in the argument.

It then all kicked off in the car park some 30 minutes later, with McIlroy taking his frustration out on Jim 'Bones' Mackay.

Cantlay returned the next day to defeat Justin Rose in the Sunday Singles 2&1.

McIlroy also won his Singles match taking down Sam Burns 3&1.
