LIV Golf chaos erupts as 4Aces publicly challenge rival team move ahead of Korea

LIV Golf’s Korean Golf Club have sparked controversy ahead of this week’s LIV Golf Korea event after making a surprise mid-season roster change involving Danny Lee.

Lee, who had been a full-time LIV Golf player since the league’s second season, has suddenly been moved into a wildcard role for the remainder of the 2026 campaign.

In his place, Korean player Doyeob Mun will join the team starting at this week’s event in Korea, which marks LIV Golf’s eighth tournament of the season.

The decision immediately caught the attention of Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC, who publicly questioned the legality of the move on social media.

Responding to the announcement on Instagram, the 4Aces account simply wrote: “Is that allowed?”

The reaction has fuelled speculation that rival LIV Golf teams are unhappy with the switch, particularly given Lee had already been operating as a contracted full-time player.

At the time of writing, LIV Golf has yet to publicly clarify the rules surrounding the move or whether a player can transition from a permanent roster spot into a wildcard position during an active season.

The uncertainty has only added further intrigue ahead of LIV Golf Korea, especially with the league already facing increasing scrutiny off the course.

Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) two weeks ago confirmed it will withdraw financial backing for LIV Golf after the 2026 season, meaning the circuit will require fresh investors to continue operating beyond next year.

The latest roster drama also comes after GolfMagic confirmed Tyrrell Hatton withdrew from LIV Golf Korea following the birth of his first child with wife Emily last week.

Hatton is expected to return at LIV Golf Andalucia before turning his attention to the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills from 18-21 June.
