Bryson DeChambeau claimed his fourth LIV Golf title after surviving a chaotic playoff against Canadian wildcard Richard T. Lee at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore.

The big-hitting American edged a dramatic contest at the first extra hole despite finding water off the tee on the par-5 18th, with both players having finished regulation tied at 14-under par.

Lee had earlier set the clubhouse target with a late charge, making birdies on four of his final six holes to force the playoff. But his momentum ultimately slipped away in heartbreaking fashion.

The playoff returned to the 18th hole, where DeChambeau immediately appeared to have handed the advantage to Lee after pulling his tee shot into the water.

But the two-time US Open champion produced a remarkable recovery, launching a 300-yard 3-wood to keep his hopes alive and eventually salvage a par.

Lee, meanwhile, chose a more conservative route but failed to capitalise on the opportunity. The Canadian agonisingly missed a short par putt, handing DeChambeau an unlikely victory.

DeChambeau admitted afterwards the closing moments were among the most dramatic he had experienced.

“What a day, that was crazy,” DeChambeau told TNT Sports.

“When I hit it in the water, the wind just took it way out of line — it was brutal. I managed to gather myself and hit a 300-yard three wood to get back in it.

“I had to go for it and attack it. I feel so bad for Richard. I wanted to go and play another hole. Sport is brutal — you never want to see someone miss a putt like that.”

DeChambeau collected a huge first prize of $4m.

Lee’s runner-up finish was still a landmark moment. The 35-year-old recorded the best result by a wildcard player in LIV Golf history.

His performance also earned him $2.25 million from the $20m individual prize fund.

Despite the disappointment, Lee remained proud of his week.

“It was a short putt and I wanted to just hit it hard, and I hit it a little too hard,” Lee said.

“I think the adrenaline was pumping a little bit. Then again, I felt like I had it this week. I played really well. Hopefully next week I can try again.”

England’s Lee Westwood finished third on 12-under-par to claim $1.5 million, while Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm rounded out the top five.

Dustin Johnson's 4Aces GC scooped the team prize, finishing the week five shots clear on 27-under par.

At 32, DeChambeau continues to cement his status as one of LIV Golf’s most formidable competitors — even if this latest victory came in the most unexpected fashion.

It's also a timely win for the Crushers GC captain with The Masters on the horizon.
