Rising PGA Tour star drops intriguing Jon Rahm hint amid LIV Golf uncertainty

Rising PGA Tour star Blades Brown has dropped a major hint about Jon Rahm’s future as uncertainty continues to surround LIV Golf.

The 19-year-old has revealed he has spoken directly with Rahm, and the conversation has left Brown believing the two-time major champion could be heading back to the PGA Tour “pretty soon”.

It is a notable claim from a player who is rapidly establishing himself on golf’s biggest stage.

Brown is currently ranked 101st in the world and is on the verge of securing his PGA Tour card for the 2027 season, with the teenager also chasing a piece of history along the way.

Brown’s comments about Rahm come at a fascinating time for professional golf, with LIV Golf’s future beyond 2026 still uncertain and questions remaining over the league’s structure, schedule and investment.

And Brown, who has friends competing on LIV, has offered an intriguing insight into where he believes the sport could be heading.

The league's future remains uncertain, with its current structure facing significant changes and questions still to be answered over how it will operate in 2027.

LIV Golf's original model is now entering a new phase, with potential new investment from BC Partners among the options being explored as the league looks to determine its long-term future.

Should LIV continue into 2027, the expectation is that it could look very different, with a reduced schedule and smaller prize purses.

That uncertainty could leave some of the league's players weighing up their options, particularly those who are eligible to return to the PGA Tour or could pursue opportunities on the DP World Tour.

Brown thinks Rahm will be on PGA Tour “pretty soon”

One of Brown's good friends competing on LIV Golf is Caleb Surratt, who currently represents Rahm's Legion XIII, who successfully defended their Team Championship crown in Indiana last week. 

“I’ve actually got a couple of buddies on LIV... Caleb Surratt – I’m excited to see what he does. I think he might go the DP World Tour route,” Brown told HITC.

But when asked specifically about Surratt’s captain, Rahm, Brown delivered an even bigger revelation.

“I’ve gotten to talk to Jon Rahm; he’ll probably be playing on the PGA Tour here pretty soon,” said Brown. 

Brown's comments follow a report from Telegraph Sport earlier this month that claimed sources were “almost resigned to Rahm's departure.”

An even bigger bombshell report from Tee Times claimed Rahm has even already agreed terms for a PGA Tour return, something that has been played down by Golf Channel's Eamon Lynch. 

Rahm's return to the PGA Tour, should it eventually happen, would put a huge dent in LIV Golf's ambitions to continue beyond this season, even with Bryson DeChambeau at the helm. 

The Spaniard joined LIV Golf in a huge deal worth an estimated $350 million in late 2023, and he has won the Individual Championship on the league for three straight seasons. 

Rahm is still said to be owed in the region of $150 million, according to Monday Q Info. 

PGA Tour CEO Rolapp confirmed earlier today during his Tour Championshp press conference that there is currently no new Returning Member Program in the works, following the scheme that allowed five-time major champion Brooks Koepka to return earlier this season. 

Rahm, DeChambeau and Cameron Smith were also offered routes back under the program, but they all declined. 

However, the league was still under Saudi PIF investment back then, and the story is very different some eight months on, especially for Rahm. 

With questions surrounding what LIV Golf's next chapter will look like, the issue of player eligibility could become increasingly important.

Rolapp insisted any LIV player with PGA Tour status that wishes to return will first have to prove they are free of their contractual obligations to the league.

Brown wants to see all of golf's biggest names competing together again on the PGA Tour, especially in light of the huge structural changes coming with a Championship Series and Challenger Series in 2028. 

“I think good golf takes care of everything. The best players in the world are going to be playing in one spot, and their golf is going to determine what that does,” he said.

“I hope one day everyone can play on one tour, the PGA Tour, just because I think that’s how it should be.”

While the future of LIV remains uncertain, Brown's own career is heading in the opposite direction.

He currently sits 10th on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List in his first season as a member and also holds Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour from now until the end of the FedEx Cup Fall season. 

His status has allowed him to accept unlimited sponsor exemptions for the remainder of this season, and he has made the most of his opportunities, recording six top-20 finishes in nine PGA Tour appearance in 2026. 

Brown has two potential routes to securing his PGA Tour card for 2027. 

He can either earn enough non-member FedExCup points to match the player finishing 70th in the final FedExCup Fall standings or finish inside the top 20 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List.

The latter route could see Brown make history.

If he remains inside the top 20 at October's Korn Ferry Tour Championship, Brown would become the youngest player ever to earn a PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour pathway.

The current record belongs to Jason Day, who earned his card aged 19 years, 11 months and 23 days. 

Brown will be just 19 years, four months and 17 days old on the final Sunday of this year's championship.

Day is a former World No.1, and many shrewd analysts consider Brown is on the same trajectory.
