Jon Rahm 'agrees terms' for PGA Tour return in 2027 - but it will cost him at least $25m

Jon Rahm's future has been the subject of speculation for weeks.

Jon Rahm has reportedly agreed terms to return to the PGA Tour in 2027.

The Spaniard's future has been the subject of intense speculation since Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) confirmed in April it would no longer bankroll the LIV Golf League

Rahm was the breakaway tour's marquee signing in 2023 and is understood to have signed a contract worth at least $300m.

But the prospect of remaining with a revamped LIV Golf 2.0, under which Rahm would have to play a reduced 10-event schedule in 2027 with smaller prize purses, may not have appealed to the 2023 Masters champion.

FlushingIt reported last month that Rahm is still owed millions from LIV as his contract was back loaded.

Complicating matters further, the DP World Tour is reportedly set to resume its policy of fining and suspending LIV players in next season, putting Rahm's appearance at the 2027 Ryder Cup back in doubt.

Telegraph Sport reported last week that LIV Golf officials are 'resigned' to losing Rahm.

And now, TeeTimes on X is claiming the Spaniard has agreed similar terms than Brooks Koepka to return to the North American circuit from next season.

But it will cost him.

According to the report, Rahm has agreed to pay $25m to charity as part of his return and will also have to earn his way into next year's signature events.

It is also presumed that Rahm will also have to forfeit eligibility in the PGA Tour's player equity programme for a period of time.

Rahm isn't the only player actively looking to strike a deal.

TeeTimes further reports that the Rahm's agent and Legion XIII general manager, Jeff Koski, is hoping to striking a deal that enables England's Tyrrell Hatton to return.

It remains to be seen what will happen.

One piece of evidence suggesting something is in the works also came from a Golfweek report published yesterday.

Eamon Lynch reported Rahm was spotted recently playing golf with Jimmy Dunne.

Dunne is a very influential American investment banker and golf power broker.

He is best known for his former role on the PGA Tour's policy board and for brokering the 2023 framework agreement between the PGA Tour, PIF and DP World Tour.

Elsewhere, LIV Golf have cancelled its season-finale

It had been widely expected for weeks that LIV Golf's Team Championship in Michigan wasn't going ahead.

Tickets to the $40m event have been unavailable to purchase but the tournament, slated for 27-30 August, was still listed on LIV's website.

However, confirmation that it has been cancelled came on Monday evening.

LIV Golf said the tournament was no longer going ahead as it will allow the league to focus on its next chapter.

LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil, who recently said new investors had been secured, said: "By concluding the season now, we can put our full resources behind what comes next and maintain the operational rigor this transition demands.

"We are reimagining LIV Golf as a fundamentally new league owned by the players and anchored in a sustainable business model, with an evolved fan experience built for the markets where the game is growing fastest across the globe and the support of world-class partners.

"Professional golf is more unified today than at any point since we launched, creating a genuine opportunity to grow the game together.

It means that LIV's season will conclude this week in Indianapolis.

"Indianapolis will be a fitting finale for the league as fans have known it and the starting point for what we believe it can become."
