These LIV Golf players may get booted from the league even if the tour does survive

It's never dull with LIV Golf. 

We still don't know if the breakaway tour, which launched in 2022 after prizing away a plethora of PGA Tour winners, major champions and Ryder Cup stars with gargantuan sums of cash and $25m prize purses, will survive beyond the end of the year. 

Saudi Arabia's PIF have withdrawn its financial support but LIV Golf believe they have found a new investor to take them forward. 

On the course, there are just two events remaining on the schedule, with LIV expected to visit The Club at Chatham Hills in Indianapolis and The Cardinal at Saint John's in Michigan for the $40m team championship. 

However, TNT Sports presenter Craig Doyle told viewers during last week's broadcast that the season finale has been cancelled. 

LIV Golf are still yet to officially confirm whether the tournament is going ahead. 

If, as expected, it is nixed from the schedule then the final event of LIV Golf's 2026 campaign will be played next week in Indianapolis. 

In the past, only full-time LIV Golf players got relegated and even team captains were exempt from the boot. 

That changed, though, to appease the Official World Golf Ranking. 

So those who are currently 47th or below are at risk.

Jason Kokrak

The American was among the first wave of players to be recruited by LIV Golf. 

He linked up with Brooks Koepka on Smash (now Oklahoma GC) and, although he has never won a LIV event, has comfortably avoided relegation. 

He's currently 47th, though, so will need one final strong showing. 

Luis Masaveu

The young Spaniard was hailed as a potential superstar by Sergio Garcia when he joined the former Masters champion's Fireballs in January 2025.

But he has never really lived up to the hype. 

Cameron Tringale

Tringale departed for LIV Golf among the career money leaders on the PGA Tour without a victory. 

The HyFlyer made 338 appearances on the North American circuit without stepping into the winner's circle. 

Although he has delivered steady results on LIV, he finds himself in the drop zone. 

Graeme McDowell

Graeme McDowell's forgettable season was summed up last week in New York when he finished dead last on 26-over par. 

Given his pedigree, you'd back him to avoid the boot. Just. 

Danny Lee

Danny Lee joined LIV Golf in 2023 and he won in Tuscon. 

But that was the sole highlight and he looks destined for relegation. 

Ben Campbell

The New Zealander was signed by Bubba Watson's RangeGoats GC after impressing on the Asian Tour. 

But to say Campbell has struggled would be an understatement. 

Bjorn Hellgren

Earned promotion to LIV via their Promotions event last December. 

But the Swede doesn't look like he is sticking around. 

Martin Kaymer

The two-time major champion, a former world number one, has outlined aspirations to return to the DP World Tour next season if LIV does survive.

Persistent injuries have hampered the German since joining LIV, particularly with his wrist. 

Michael La Sasso

Michael La Sasso joined LIV for the 2026 season with a big reputation. 

He had just won the NCAA Championship and gave up a spot in The Masters to link up with Phil Mickelson on the HyFlyers. 

But it's been an utterly miserable season for the young American. 

Miguel Tabuena

Miguel Tabuena was handed wildcard LIV Golf status in 2026 when Anthony Kim officially joined Dustin Johnson's team. 

But the Filipino has been unable to take advantage. 

Tabuena's best finish this season saw him finish 25th in Virginia. 

Minkyu Kim

Minkyu Kim joined LIV Golf as part of a full team rebrand that saw Kevin Na depart the league and the Iron Heads renamed Korean Golf Club.

The 25-year-old has made no impact needs a miracle if he is to haul himself out of the drop zone.

Do-Yeob Mun

Like Kim, Mun joined Korean Golf Club for the 2026 season but has struggled massively. 

In fairness to Mun, he has played fewer events than others as he replaced Danny Lee on the roster mid-way through the season. 

But he's yet to crack the top 20. 

Sam Horsfield

Sam Horsfield was ranked inside the top 75 of the Official World Golf Ranking. 

He racked up three DP World Tour wins before the age of 25 but his career has been going backwards for some time. 

Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson has been reduced to just one appearance this season, in South Africa, as he has been attending a private family health matter.

Mickelson also missed all four majors and troubling allegations about his private life suggest we could have potentially seen the last of Lefty.
