Charley Hull offers opinion on issue that ruffled Nelly Korda's feathers
Charley Hull hopes men and women compete against each other in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's indoor golf league at some point but it's "fine for now".
England's Charley Hull says the separation of men and women in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's indoor golf league is "fine the way it is" for now but hopes that will change in the future.
Hull is among the LPGA Tour stars to confirm their participation in the WTGL.
It will take place at the same Florida venue as the men's TGL, which has already completed two seasons and returns to our screens in December.
World number one Nelly Korda will not be taking part in the inaugural WTGL campaign, which kicks off next month, and previously called the lack of a mixed gender indoor virtual league "an unbelievable miss".
But Hull told Front Office Sports in a recent Q&A that that decision is fine for the minute but hopes that changes in the future.
"I think it would be a great way to promote golf in general," Hull said of playing alongside men.
"It's almost like Wimbledon in tennis, how they have the men and the women playing at the same time together. Even something like that would be really good."
Hull added that she believes the WTGL will be good for the women's game.
"It's quite good for a different kind of golfing audience," she said.
"As a golfer, we don't really get to play in an arena, where this makes you feel like you're playing in one."
The WTGL launches on 8 November at 3pm ET (8pm GMT). The finals are scheduled for 22-23 December.
Season one of WTGL will feature five teams.
Hull is representing Atlanta Drive alongside Nataliya Guseva, Yuka Saso, Minjee Lee and Andrea Lee.
What did Nelly Korda say?
In January, Korda admitted she had mixed feelings on the launch of WTGL.
"I'm surprised no other girls have spoken out about it," she said.
"It's a huge and unbelievable miss that we're not playing alongside the men.
"There's no greater way to grow the game, and it would have been revolutionary.
"It would have been the first time, I think, that men and women are on the same playing field, playing for the same exact amount of money.
"But I also think it's great that we are getting this opportunity, so that's my mixed feelings."
