Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen carded a second round 66 to take a narrow one-shot lead into the weekend at the 3M Open.
Olesen, 35, closed out his round with four birdies on the last six holes to move to 14-under par thru 36 holes at TPC Twin Cities.
Jake Knapp, 31, is lurking one shot adrift on 13-under par after a flawless round of 65.
Pierceson Coody and Sam Stevens are a further shot off the pace at 12-under par.
Germany's Matti Schmid, Japan's Takumi Kanaya and Chris Kirk round out the top five on 11-under par.
A logjam group of players are then on 10-under par including former US Open champion Wyndham Clark and England's Matt Wallace.
Olesen may have won eight times on the DP World Tour but he has yet to register a win on the PGA Tour.
In August 2019, Olesen was formally charged with sexual assault, being drunk on an aircraft and common assault.
He was then suspended by the European Tour, now the DP World Tour, pending resolution of the criminal charges.
Then in December 2021, he was cleared of all charges by a court in London.
Should Olesen see out his first win on the PGA Tour this weekend then he would give himself a live chance of earning one of Luke Donald's six captain's picks in the 2025 European Ryder Cup team.
Olesen made his first and only Ryder Cup team to date at 2018.
The Dane took 1 point from a possible 2 during Europe's dominating seven-point win at Le Golf National.
