Huge PGA Tour schedule changes announced for 2027 season
The PGA Tour has overhauled key Florida Swing events as it continues reshaping its calendar structure.
The PGA Tour is set to introduce a major shake-up to its Florida Swing in 2027, with significant scheduling changes impacting several of its biggest spring events.
According to Sports Business Journal, a memo was sent to players on Tuesday outlining new dates for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Cadillac Championship and Valspar Championship as part of ongoing efforts to refine structure of the season.
Under the revised PGA Tour schedule for 2027, the Florida Swing will begin as normal with the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches following the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles.
However, the PGA Tour will then head to Trump Doral in Miami for the Cadillac Championship from 4-7 March, before The Players Championship takes place a week later from 11-14 March.
One of the biggest changes sees the Arnold Palmer Invitational moved from 18-21 March, directly after The Players Championship rather than occupying its traditional pre-Players slot.
The Valspar Championship has also been shifted away from its long-standing position after The Players, the PGA Tour's flagship event of the season. Instead, the tournament will now be staged from 6-9 May, serving as part of the build-up to the Truist Championship.
The schedule changes come after concerns surrounding this year’s inaugural Cadillac Championship, which struggled to generate atmosphere and strong attendance while competing against Formula One’s Miami Grand Prix weekend.
PGA Tour officials also faced challenging weather conditions, with temperatures climbing into the high 80s and 90s during the event.
The updated calendar is also designed to ease the workload on the PGA Tour’s leading players.

During a congested six-week period in 2026, the schedule featured two majors alongside three Signature Events.
While the new-look 2027 schedule still includes three Signature Events and The Players Championship across a five-week stretch, the Tour believes the revised format creates a more balanced run through the spring.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational’s new position on the calendar is not entirely unfamiliar territory.
Before The Players Championship returned to March in 2019, Bay Hill regularly hosted the event during the third week of March.
However, the tournament will now face stiff competition for television audiences against the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
Several details surrounding the early part of the 2027 season are still to be confirmed.
The PGA Tour has yet to officially announce the date of the Torrey Pines event, which is widely expected to receive sponsorship backing from Sentry following Farmers Insurance’s departure.
The changes to schedule continue a period of significant transition for the PGA Tour after officials recently confirmed the removal of its traditional Hawaii double-header opener featuring The Sentry and Sony Open.
Based on tournament announcements already released, the 2027 PGA Tour season is expected to begin on 21 January at The American Express in La Quinta, California, where Scottie Scheffler will look to defend his title.
