America's Chris Gotterup wasn't the only golfer to depart the WM Phoenix Open delighted.

As Gotterup tore up the back nine at TPC Scottsdale to reel in Hideki Matsuyama, another battle was quietly unfolding at the people's open.

We are talking, of course, about the AON Swing 5, which gives PGA Tour members the opportunity to play their way into the bumper prize purse, limited field, signature events.

The WM Phoenix Open marked the final stop in the opening stretch of the season to determine the five non-exempt players into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods

Returning LIV golfer Brooks Koepka is eligible for the scheme, but didn't do enough at the Farmers Insurance Open or in the desert.

Pierceson Coody, grandson of 1971 Masters champion Charles Coody, along with Ryo Hisatsune, Jake Knapp (pictured), Matt McCarty and Patrick Rodgers secured the five positions.

Sahith Theegala, Michael Thorbjornsen and Nicolai Hojgaard narrowly missed out.

Theegala has since been given the final sponsor's invite into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, joining Tony Finau, Billy Horschel and Keith Mitchell.
