Justin Rose makes Ryder Cup prediction amid DPWT's LIV Golf crackdown

Justin Rose expects Luke Donald to have more players to choose from for the 2027 Ryder Cup as the DP World Tour’s LIV Golf ruling reshapes the selection picture ahead of Adare Manor.

Justin Rose believes Luke Donald's Ryder Cup team will look considerably different in 2027 after the DP World Tour drew a line in the sand with LIV Golf players.

The European-based circuit confirmed on Monday that any golfer who signs up to a reimagined LIV, which hopes to launch in 2027 with new financiers at the helm, will be prohibited from holding membership.

That means several European players now need to decide whether or not they want to be considered for selection as only DP World Tour members can represent the blue and gold.

Deadlines for both tours are within the next five weeks.

"I don't know what the current LIV situation is apart from it seems like a lot of players are beginning to free themselves up to focus on the DP World Tour and put themselves in positions where they might be able to accrue some points," Rose told reporters before this week's DP World India Championship in New Delhi.

The Englishman has represented Europe in seven Ryder Cups, featuring in five winning teams: 2012, 2014, 2018, 2023 and 2025.

Rose boasts an overall match record of 16-10-3, earning 17.5 points to rank ninth on the all-time points list.

He hopes to make an eighth appearance in the biennial contest next September at Adare Manor in Ireland.

But there are plethora of young stars emerging that will give Donald a selection headache.

Spanish duo Eugenio Chacarra and Angel Ayora were invited to a scouting trip to Adare Manor in September, along with Alex Fitzpatrick and Kristoffer Reitan.

"I think there will be more players available for Luke to select from," added Rose.

"The way the Ryder Cup team is selected now six guys qualify and six get picked, so anybody who is showing really good form that maybe hasn't had the opportunity to earn the points but is eligible to play, they're going to be considered for the team.

"So I think the team may look a little bit different next year than it did this year.

"Or next time because of how things seem to be playing out at the moment.

"But I haven't really followed the ins and outs. I know there is a lot of movement."

"I'm playing for those big moments"

Rose has already built an impressive career, with one major win at the 2013 U.S. Open and multiple victories worldwide.

He told reporters that at aged 46 he is now simply playing for the big moments.

"I would love to sort of push myself to try to win another major championship," he said when asked what keeps him motivated.

"But it's more than that really. I want to play golf now for the memories.

"I think in order to sort of build the memory bank four when you're looking a back at your career, you have to keep putting yourself in the biggest situations in golf, whether that be down the stretch in majors, the first tee of Ryder Cups, things like that.

"So I'm kind of really playing for those big moments. You can't always control the outcome. I also learned that.

"You can play well enough to win a major and I feel like I've done that in the last sort of two, three years but haven't lifted the trophy.

"So you play to win of course because that feeling is so amazing, but you can't sort of hold yourself to only that."

Rose said the beauty of the sport is he can always improve.

"I'm 47 next year," he said. "That [getting better] shouldn't be possible but I think it is possible, and that's the beauty of it.

"And that's what I'm striving for, to make next year better than this year and find a way to keep growing.

"So it's like a personal battle really I suppose at the moment."
