Rory McIlroy gets golf fan thrown out after receiving awful homophobic comment
Watch: Rory McIlroy got an unruly American spectator ejected from the 2025 Ryder Cup after calling him a "little faggot" at Bethpage.
A video has gone viral on social media of Rory McIlroy getting an unruly golf fan ejected from Bethpage Black after calling him a "little faggot" during the Ryder Cup.
McIlroy, 36, was verbally abused on just about every hole during both of his foursomes and fourballs matches in New York last week.
GolfMagic knows first-hand as we covered the Northern Irishman's every move for three days from inside the ropes at Bethpage.
McIlroy received just about every possible insult under the sun from a minority of unruly American spectators.
Some of the comments included homophobic slurs like the one you can watch below.
As we join the video, which has now gone viral in the aftermath of the 2025 Ryder Cup, we see McIlroy walking alongside Erica.
An unruly American spectator then comments "Rory... hey you little faggot".
McIlroy instantly turned around and then pointed out the man to a state trooper to get him ejected from the course.
"Throw him out, throw him out," McIlroy told the state trooper.
"For what?" replied the spectator.
"For calling me a faggot," answered McIlroy.

Imagine not only thinking this is acceptable behavior but also then posting it online. Pretty gross. pic.twitter.com/z3THbr7bUT

PGA of America President batted an eyelid to the verbal abuse McIlroy received in a truly shocking BBC interview, which you can watch in full here.
The PGA of America will badly want a mulligan following the 2025 Ryder Cup with countless errors made both on and off the course last week.
That is something I discussed in more detail in my latest feature for GolfMagic.
Former Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger has labelled McIlroy as something of a hypocrite after the Ryder Cup.
Azinger had some very strong comments about McIlroy during a SubPar interview on Monday, which you can watch here.
