Solheim Cup announcement made as qualification details are confirmed
Solheim Cup update reveals how European players will qualify for Bernardus 2026.
The roadmap to Europe’s 2026 Solheim Cup team has been confirmed, with the Ladies European Tour today outlining how players can book their place for Bernardus Golf.
The qualification period for the 20th edition of the Solheim Cup officially began at the 2024 La Sella Open and will conclude after the 2026 AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
Team Europe will be made up of the top two eligible players from the LET Solheim Cup points list, the top six eligible players from the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, and four captain’s picks.
Solheim Cup points in 2026 will be earned through top-10 finishes at Ladies European Tour events, top-20 finishes at co-sanctioned LET and LPGA Tour events, and top-20 finishes at Major Championships. Points awarded in 2026 will be double the value of those earned during the 2024–25 period.
Following the conclusion of the AIG Women’s Open, the players who have qualified automatically for the European team will be confirmed. Captain’s picks will then be announced after 2 August.
European captain Anna Nordqvist will be assisted by vice-captains Caroline Hedwall, Mel Reid and Anne Van Dam as she finalises the team tasked with reclaiming the Solheim Cup on home soil.
“I am delighted to be able to confirm the details of the qualifying period for our 2026 European Solheim Cup Team,” Nordqvist said. “The AIG Women’s Open marks a great final event for the qualifying period as we look to win back the Solheim Cup in front of our home fans. I’m excited for the year ahead and to see who will be on the team in September.”
The 2026 Solheim Cup will be staged in the Netherlands for the first time, with Bernardus Golf hosting the biennial contest from 11–13 September.
Opened in 2018, Bernardus has already staged three editions of the KLM Dutch Open on the DP World Tour between 2021 and 2023 and will provide the setting for one of the biggest events in women’s sport.
The last Solheim Cup held in Europe took place in Spain in 2023, where Europe retained the trophy after a dramatic 14–14 tie at Finca Cortesín. The United States regained the Cup at the most recent contest in Virginia, winning 15½–12½.
Tickets for the 2026 Solheim Cup are now on sale, with options ranging from general grounds passes to premium hospitality experiences, including the ‘Tap Inn at the 15th Green’.
