Although professional golfers are magicians of the game, not every golfer has the short game magic of Phil Mickelson and we certainly saw this in the second round of the Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour.

On the 14th hole at the spectacular Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland, Sean Crocker was deciding which type of shot to hit over the greenside bunker.

It was his third shot on this par-5 and he had an opportunity to tuck one in close to make a birdie. Unexpectedly, he took out his 3-wood and took aim at the hole.

The object was to skip his ball through the sand and roll it up next to the pin. This is what it must've looked like in the American's head, but this wasn't the reality.

The DP World Tour commentary team of Ken Brown, John E. Morgan and Richard Boxall certainly had a chuckle to themselves when the 25-year-old brandished the second-longest club in his bag as opposed to a wedge.

Crocker's ball failed to skip up the face of the bunker and stayed in the sand. To his credit, he got up and down for a par but this couldn't save him from shooting a 2-over-par 72.

He missed the cut for the 12th time this season. However, he earned his first win on the DP World Tour at the Hero Open in Scotland at the end of July, beating fan favourite Eddie Pepperell by one shot.

So far this week at Crans Montana, Alejandro Canizares and Thriston Lawrence have led the way after two rounds. Canizares, 39, has certainly rolled back the years this week having won for the first time on the European circuit in 2006.
